Good-bye (riddance) to another remarkable year.

31 Dec

One can only truly know a year from the back end.

Let’s see, I remember this time last year, I was 30 pounds overweight and had recently broken my wrist and damaged my arm and shoulder in a fall from a broken ladder.  I promised myself, 2014 would be better than 2013.  And for the most part, it has been much better.

I got my cast off in February and was able to work out again starting the first week of April.  Over the summer and fall I lost 20 lbs and a couple of sizes in my waist and had to purchase new pants, only because my wife wouldn’t let me go out with her wearing my baggy pants. Our fourth grandchild (second grandson) was born this summer  :).   Let’s see,  I learned how to self-publish books and did so for other authors; plus, I learned about blogging and created this website with the intent of promoting books I publish but it really turned into a place for me to ramble from time to time.  I started writing my own book which is taking longer than I anticipated.  Hopefully, it will be a good, well read story.  We’ll see, next year.  After many years of evasion, I was Baptized, as well;  I feel good about that decision.  And then of course, Thanksgiving came along and so did five of the pounds that I had previously shed but I’m still smaller than I started the year.  December has been fairly quiet and well appreciated.

I have been making plans to build an office, a work and storage area in the garage but decided to wait until “next year” to finish.  I’ll start sometime in the next couple of weeks.

I’ve been slacking on my studies — no really, I don’t think I’ve logged on to my classes in a couple of months.  And, my Bible studies have only been once a day for a few minutes in the morning.

The odd part about 2014 is that it seemed to fly by so quickly.  So, why am I so ready for it to be over?  It has nothing to do with my personal life, it has to do with our society.  Our society, churned dramatically by our government, has become less than optimal and I’m just “hoping” that 2015 will be different.  Things are happening in a way that no one should be surprised especially since many of us read the last chapter.  There is an evil at bay that so many do or won’t realize until it is too late…but it could be different–good or bad.  Personally, I hope for positive change.  Positive change starting 1 minute after midnight.  I look forward to the new adventures that await me in the coming months.

Regardless, I wish all a wonderful new year with an abundance of love, happiness, mercy and grace and faith in the One True God be yours forever.  Oh, and I wish for each of us forgiveness.  The forgiveness for others as well as for each of us.  Like my dear ol’ daddy used to say, “Son, every day is someone’s judgment day, be prepared or be very careful.”

Jay 🙂
